How is Infertility Related to Chlamydia
Chlamydia Treatment
is a common sexually transmitted infection (STI), which is caused by
Chlamydia trachomatis bacte-rium. This infection can be transmitted
during vaginal, anal, or oral sex. It may also be passed from an
infected mother to her baby during birth. The risk of catching this
infection increases greatly if you have multiple sexual partners or
engage in unprotected sex. This infection is considered hazardous since
most of the infected men and women experience no symptoms in the initial
stage. Chlamydia infection, if left untreated, can cause infertility in
majority of women. This is the reason you need to seek effective
treatment of chlamydia before it is too late.
Some of the common
symptoms can be listed as abnormal vaginal discharge, back pain, burning
sensation when urinating, pain during sex, fever, abdominal pain,
nausea and bleeding between periods.
causes of chlamydia can cause infertility in women
In
women, the infection can spread into the fallopian tubes when the
chlamydia infection is left untreated for a long time. This can further
cause the tubes to become blocked, and develop scar tissue making them
unable to carry an egg during ovulation. All these factors can
contribute to infertility, ectopic pregnancy and often pelvic
inflammatory disease (PID). It can damage the fallopian tubes to the
extent that it becomes difficult for eggs to move through them, and thus
a woman cannot conceive. PID also causes tubal disease, while ectopic
pregnan-cy is a life-threatening condition in which the egg embeds in
the fallopian tube instead of in the uterus.
